So, it’s finally here. After much fanfare Trader Joe’s has finally opened it’s doors in Millburn, New Jersey. Located in the old Whole Foods space at 187 Millburn Avenue. This store is sure to be a huge hit with local granola eating set.

Well, yesterday I had a chance to drop by the store — and here’s my initial impression.

Bland.
Cold.
Sterile.
Warehouse like.

Sure, I was able to find all of my favorite Trader Joe’s products – but the store seemed to lack the warm feeling I’ve always associated with Trader Joe’s.

I don’t know.

Just a visceral feeling.

No big deal.

Bottom line is that Millburn finally has a Trader Joes’ and I’m psyched.

By the way, don’t think that you’re going to find a case of Three Buck Chuck at this location. That’s not going to happen. Stop by the store in Westfield to get your wine fix.

TJ’s is open daily from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM.

New Jersey is beautiful at this time of the year. Especially the golden leaves that blanket the ground, sidewalks, gutters, storm drains and that little area at the base of your car windshield.

Yeah. It’s a beautiful time of year but — it’s a real pain in the ass raking up these leaves.

Enter my four year old son AKA — THE LEAF MASTER.

Last week I pretended like I really enjoyed raking leaves — and the rest is history.

He loves it. Thinks it’s fun. Not sure how long this will last.

Can’t wait to see him shovel snow.

Do I regret going?

No. It was awesome.

Where else can you see topnotch rock & roll acts for free. Well sort of free. My son spent a sh*% load of money on the carnival rides. Roughly three dollars every 5 minutes. That adds up quick.

My favorite act was Cy Curnin of The Fixx. He played both solo and songs from The Fixx catalog. It was awesome. Oh yeah. That’s my son and I pictured with Cy and Nick Harper.

The biggest surprise was Uncle Kracker (Pictured Above). His set was amazing.

Next year. If I tell you to go to the Union County Music Festival – GO!
