Union

WHY BUY IN UNION?

If you open a road atlas to the state of New Jersey, dead center, stapled through the heart, is the Township of Union, a colonial town that is ageless and indelibly American, with historic churches and antique marts, invested in a clean environment and exurban restoration; a place where people come to settle down in handsome, one-family houses set back beneath shade trees on streets that are wide and immaculate.

Union, with a population of 50,000, is an old-fashioned city in some ways, but not a place lost in the mists of nostalgia: New York City is only forty minutes by bus, a Starbucks is easy to find, and a Whole Foods Market is on the way, opening in the Vauxhall section of town. But it is also a city where, on a Sunday afternoon during the summer, you might find the Volunteer Fireman’s Picnic in progress in one of the spacious parks, where groups of families spanning generations can be seen playing softball and eating hot dogs and buttered corn, people who are friendly and open, who will smile at you and wave, inviting you to join in.

Along with a dynamic Senior Citizen’s center, there are 10 public schools, 2 parochial schools, a large public library, 165 acres of parks, easy access to all major highways, and trains to New York City within two miles.
The Township of Union is a dwelling place with a heart, where people drive off the interstate, shop for a home, and stay forever. If you want to give it a try, I’ll show you around.

Van Gogh’s Ear. Coffee — the Way it Should Be.

July 9th, 2008

Not so many years ago there were tons of small eclectic coffee bars all over the country. Each one had it’s own funky identity. They were places you could chill out and stretch your mind on some Andre Gide or just hang out with friends and inhale eight double espressos. They were awesome.

In the 90’s [...]
