New Jersey is beautiful at this time of the year. Especially the golden leaves that blanket the ground, sidewalks, gutters, storm drains and that little area at the base of your car windshield.

Yeah. It’s a beautiful time of year but — it’s a real pain in the ass raking up these leaves.

Enter my four year old son AKA — THE LEAF MASTER.

Last week I pretended like I really enjoyed raking leaves — and the rest is history.

He loves it. Thinks it’s fun. Not sure how long this will last.

Can’t wait to see him shovel snow.

New Jersey — Hardly A Creative Wasteland.

When I moved out to New Jersey from California back in 1994, I thought — “This is the end.” Not that I was going to drop dead from inhaling excessive PCBs, rather, I was going to loose my creative self. It felt like I was somehow surrendering to the cult of bad hair, stupid talk and no talent.

I couldn’t have been more wrong.

New Jersey is an beautiful state filled with talented people and quite a few downright geniuses. Sure, you might spot a tight faced person with bad hair color on occasion — but you can see that in any state.

New Jersey has something special. Something unique. Something I never experienced in California.

The other day my dad forwarded me a link to an article in the Wall Street Journal. It gives some serious insight into New Jersey’s unfair reputation and amazingly talented residents.

Nets Crush the Bucks.

When I’m not rockin’ the Pink Izod with a huge ice cream stain in Taylor Park, you can find me at the Izod Center in East Rutherford watching the Nets crush the Bucks. There’s nothing like a night out of basketball.

That’s exactly what I did on Tuesday evening. Gotta give a special shout out to my friend Nancy Mendel for the great tickets.

Burbing it up.

We have guests over this weekend. I can deal with it. I can put aside my OCD for a couple of days and let seven kids trash my home. My wife, on the other hand, has been busting loose in the kitchen quietly avoiding the insanity taking place in the rest of the house. She didn’t even make me do the dishes. There’s something going on here.

She cooked up a whole pot of corn on the cob and set it out on the table to cool down.

A couple of minutes later this is what she found.

My son took a bite out of each piece of corn.
